Relevance | DateDeSmog on Vaclav Smil (this deep thinker is largely correct)
By Robert Bradley Jr. -- April 28, 2022 2 Comments“In a profile in Science magazine, [Vaclav] Smil constructed his own models of how carbon dioxide emissions might affect climate and found it ‘wanting.’ ‘I have too much respect for reality,’ Smil said.” (DeSmog, below)
I have previously highlighted DeSmog pieces on climate and energy realists to show that simply imparting the subject’s views create good analysis. DeSmog might think they are prima facie hit pieces, but they are the opposite! Back door justice, perhaps….
Note the guilty-as-charged profiles on Robert Bryce, Isaac Orr, Derrick Hollie, John Christy, and myself. Same for DeSmog’s analysis on the Global Warming Policy Foundation.
DeSmog has done so many profiles that it looks like we are in the majority. And in a sense we are! The public is not buying climate catastrophe (yawn), certainly not in paying more for energy.…

By Robert Bradley Jr. -- September 21, 2020 3 Comments“Despite the relatively small size of the … Global Warming Policy Foundation, Institute of Economic Affairs and the Centre for Policy Studies (CPS), as well as the German Europäisches Institut für Klima und Energie (EIKE), the Austrian Economics Centre (AEC), Institut Économique Molinari (IEM) in France, Instituto Juan de Mariana (IJM) in Spain and the Liberales Institut (LI) in Switzerland…. [they] nevertheless have a ‘remarkable’ level of political influence.”
“The study found that groups on both sides of the Atlantic consistently use the same rhetoric, drawing heavily on libertarian, free-market ideology… and their influence is ‘still growing’.”
Desmog blog has a peculiar methodology of stating a number of facts about disliked individuals and organizations as if this record is prima facie evidence of wrongness and duplicity.
In fact, the same record can be (and is by me) used to make just the opposite point–guilty as charged and proud of it.…

By Robert Bradley Jr. -- April 28, 2020 5 CommentsIt’s time to move the debate past the dogmatic view that carbon dioxide is evil and toward a world view that accepts the need for energy that is cheap, abundant and reliable. (Robert Bryce)
“Despite the endless hype about electric cars, vehicles that plug into the grid remain a niche product that is sold almost exclusively to the affluent…. Lower-income taxpayers should not be subsidizing wealthy motorists who buy EVs. (Robert Bryce)
From time to time, MasterResource has posted on the profiles by DeSmog Blog: climatologist John Christy, Reaching America’s Derrick Hollie, and myself. Strangely, the targets of DeSmog can agree with the profiles in a guilty-as-charged way. The litmus test seems to be that if you do not agree with climate alarmism and forced energy transformation, you are ipso facto wrong.…

By Robert Bradley Jr. -- October 21, 2019 5 CommentsMasterResource has previously highlighted individuals “from the Climate Disinformation Database” of Desmog Blog where the in-their-own-words ‘expose’ revealed solid thinking and good deeds.
I am profiled, accurately but incompletely (please update). I thanked them too: DeSmog Blog: Guilty as Charged (‘hit’ profile looks good to me).
MasterResource also did “guilty as charged” posts defending Derrick Hollie, founder of Reaching America, and leading scientist John Christy. If fact, almost everyone on DeSmog’s list of deplorables should feel proud to read their profiles and deeds.
Desmog’s Climate Disinformation Database advertises itself as “where you can search and browse our extensive research on the individuals and organizations that have helped to delay and distract the public and our elected leaders from taking needed action to reduce greenhouse gas pollution and fight global warming.”…
