I have translated this article into French, posted it on our free market news and information site here : http://www.contrepoints.org/Vert-d-austerite-L-Europe-fatiguee.html, and of course linked it to this post on Master Resource. We think it will help spread the voice of rational analysis. If for any reason you would rather we take it off line, let me know. On your end, feel free to make any useyou see fit of this translation.

Regarding British interest in "renewables," one should note that the new deputy prime minister's wife, Miriam Durantez, is associated with Spanish wind. See:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-1285456/As-Nick-Cleggs-Spanish-wife-gets-job-Madrid-wind-farm-firm-targeting-Britain-man-pens-irate-letter.html.

With regard to France and nuclear power, Areva's CEO, Anne Lauvergeon, gave a recent interview in New York to Charlie Rose. At the end,she wrapped arguments for nuclear with support for wind and solar technologies--renewables--animated by investment in battery storage. SOS. This kind of rhetorical pandering rhymes with the PR effort of the natural gas industry, which has stridently over the last year promoted natural gas as an enabler of "renewables."

This kind of nonsense is precisely what sustains the political interest in renewables today in the USA.
