Its kind of redundant to look at our energy future without counting in the obvious changes that must be made in regards to carbon emissions. So when we talk about the large amount of carbon based energy sources its kind of a mute point . To talk about human ingenuity and not mention the significant advances in renewable, nuclear and carbon sequestration abilities is kind of pointless. We do have to be careful though that our public servants look at pragmatic energy mix ideas instead of involving themselves in renewable energy projects that aren't reliable of economically viable.

The future of energy does not look bright right now. But then, given history, maybe we can expect that sanity will ultimately prevail? Or am I putting on rose colored glasses?

Well, the Democrats are really bleeding from Health Care...maybe 2010 will see some relatively sensible people get elected? One can only hope that the focus on non-energy issues in the meantime means that no harmful action gets taken between now and then. If 2010 isn't a very bad year for Democrats, then the whole game is done. They'll get everything they want and reversing it will be nigh impossible. All that will be left is to pick up the pieces...
