Watching Joe Romm squirm, backtrack, flip-flop, and generally scurry like a cockroach subjected to light has been greatly entertaining. Thanks, Rob, for continuing to shine a light on his climate hysterics and hyperbole.

Those of us following the scientific debate on, legislation for, and economic consequences of "climate change" policy have a long list of people whom we are going to very publicly humiliate when the science becomes crystal clear that human CO2 emissions are not a serious threat to anything. We already know this, but Joe's side continues to prey upon a sophomoric public, clueless politicians, and a complicit media. And that day is coming sooner rather than later.

10 years of cooling while CO2 levels continue to increase. 89% of weather stations unreliable due to siting nearby heat sources (parking lots, commercial HVAC systems, etc.) and thus feeding eroneous data into the AOGCM's (garbage in, garbage out). More empirical evidence coming in regularly that CO2 levels have been much higher than current well before humans started burning fossil fuels with no deleterious consequences. 31,000 scientists signing a petition renouncing the IPCC (and its followers) conclusions of climate change Armageddon coming. McKitrick and McIntyre debunking the Mann "hockey stick" graph, and Gore subsequently taking it out of his presentations. Scores of credible analysis that Waxman Markey is environmentally inconsequential (.10 degrees C by 2100!) and economically disastrous (2-4% of GDP ANNUALLY!). Oceans cooling, predicted increases in hurricane numbers and velocity post-Katrina not happening. Sea levels no longer rising. I could go on forever, but the point is that the noose is closing, and the tighter it gets around their collars, the louder they scream and the faster they try and push through climate change legislation before their "scientific hypothesis" is relegated to the same dustbin of history that contains the 1970's "global cooling" joke.

And Joe, you might not be at the top of that list of people whom we will very publicly humiliate, but you're pretty close. After we show Al Gore, James Hansen, and Rajendra Pauchari to be the politically and economically-motivated simpletons that they are, it will be YOUR TURN. We'll wear you out, then John Holdren, then go right down the list.

For the record, Carbonicus has disputed the claims of Joe Romm on his blog with peer-reviewed scientific information on this subject enough times that I've been banned and locked out from posting. Having proudly suffered that fate, it occurs to me when I ocassionally check out his blog that others have met the same fate. The result is that almost all the comments on the blog are shows of support for Romm's ideas and policies. If you agree with Joe, your comments get posted. If you don't agree with him- even when you do so in a respectful, fact-laden manner - you get scrubbed.

Joseph Romms greater fears are a bill with offsets remove the punitive part of taxation. He want a punitive tax, not a motivational tax scheme. He really wants no offsets. Enron inniated this with enron wind and their close work with Hansen. Enron is now Ge Wind Power. If the Dems in ag states sign the bill, they will have just resigned from office. It seems that Romm is about to blow a gasket. He wanted the bill passed rapidly without reading or debate.
That is a red flag.

Meanwhile, the sun is in a deep solar minimum while there are reports from all over the globe of low temperatures not seen in decades yet CO2 levels are now around 385 ppm.

"After all, who really wants an Enronesque cap-and-trade bill that enriches lawyers and corporate types at the expense of everyone else?"

This is what the skeptics and deniers have been saying for years now. The primary motivation for the whole Cap&Trade system is to make some people and corporations rich.

I believe the bill will pass in Congress but it will be in such a watered down state that it will be useless and the Greens will howl bloody murder. However in the fall, the Senate will kill the bill like the wounded dog that it is. Good riddance.
